Core Beliefs
At Hill Village Bible Church, we’re passionate about God’s Word. We believe that the Bible, in all its 66 books, is inspired by God and is both flawless and timeless. It’s the foundation for everything we believe and how we live. Here, we hold to the beautiful mystery of the Trinity—one God expressed in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is not just doctrine to us; it’s a relationship with a loving God who created everything in just six days and holds it all together.
Humanity, uniquely made in God’s image, fell into sin, and this separation is something we all feel. But there’s good news! We believe that salvation is a free gift from God, given to us through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s not something we earn, but something we receive with joy, and it brings us eternal security and hope.
Our church isn’t just a building; it’s a community—a family where we celebrate our faith in Jesus. Through baptism and the Lord’s Supper, we have a chance to publicly honor Him, remembering what He’s done in our lives. We also look forward to the day Jesus will return. We believe in His imminent return and the events that will follow, leading us all to eternity—either in a state of blessing with Him or in judgment.
Life here on earth is important too, and we strive to live it fully for God. We follow His guidance for marriage, relationships, and sexuality, aiming to live lives that reflect His holiness, love, and unity. This Confession of Faith isn’t just words on a page for us; it’s the heartbeat of our church—a reflection of our commitment to live by God’s Word, to know Him deeply, and to walk with Him every day.

The Bible: Our Foundation
At Hill Village, we believe the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word. It’s our ultimate authority for what we believe and how we live. Every part of Scripture is a gift from God to teach, correct, and guide us.
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…”
- Psalm 119:160 – “The entirety of Thy word is truth, and every one of Thy righteous judgments endureth forever.”
- Matthew 24:35 – “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.”
One God, Three Persons
We believe in the Trinity: one God who exists eternally in three distinct but equal persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This mystery reveals the fullness of God’s love and presence in our lives.
- Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”
- Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
- 2 Corinthians 13:14 – “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.”
Creation, Angels, and Humanity
We believe God created the universe in six days and declared it good. Angels, both faithful and fallen, serve God’s purposes, while humanity—made in His image—was created to reflect His glory. Sin, however, has marred that image, leaving us in desperate need of salvation.
- Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
- Colossians 1:16 – “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible…”
- Psalm 8:4-6 – “What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? … For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.”
Salvation: A Gift of Grace
Salvation is God’s free gift, given through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross as a substitute for our sins, rose again, and offers eternal life to all who believe. Nothing we do can earn this gift—it’s all about God’s grace.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
- Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
- John 10:28-29 – “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.”
The Church: God’s Family
We believe the church is both universal and local—a global body of believers and a community of faith. At Hill Village, we gather to worship, pray, study God’s Word, and serve one another. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are meaningful ways we celebrate our faith together.
- Acts 2:41-42 – “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized… And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
- Ephesians 1:22-23 – “And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body.”
- 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 – “For as the body is one, and hath many members… so also is Christ.”
Future Hope: Jesus Is Coming Again
We look forward to Jesus’ return with hope and joy. The Bible promises His imminent coming, the Rapture of believers, and His ultimate reign. These future events remind us that history is moving toward God’s eternal purposes.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…”
- Revelation 20:1-6 – Describes Satan’s binding and Christ’s 1,000-year reign.
- Matthew 25:46 – “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Living for God
We believe in living a life that honors God. This includes upholding biblical standards for marriage, family, and relationships, while pursuing holiness and unity as His people. Through the Holy Spirit, we’re empowered to live differently in a world that often opposes God’s ways.
- Romans 12:1-2 – “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God… And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
- 1 John 2:15-17 – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world…”
- 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 – “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers… and I will receive you.”
